Dearest Reader,
Thank you for stopping by and joining me on my journey of creative and personal development following a challenging period in my life.
I’m Nathan. I’ve always felt connected to nature and following further research into the healing power of flower images, I felt inspired to tap into and celebrate the innate connection between people and plants through my photography. (Please see picture of me below for reference, you might also find it on my about page too, so you can put a face to the name)
Following my own personal experience and observations of mental health stigma, I decided to offer plant photography in the form of digital greeting cards with the intention of redressing the balance between old-fashioned attitudes and contemporary approaches towards approaching mental health in Western society.
I’m drawn to flowers because of their colour. I really appreciate how the colour of flowers can brighten a room, boost someone’s mood or start a conversation between friends and family.
I understand the small, yet essential function of flowers beyond their visual aesthetics from personal experience. Flowers have played a key role in my continued physical and mental wellness in recent years due to their colour and shape, offering an opportunity for creative development and emotional expression within the context of my professional practice.
Something as simple as a glass of freshly-picked daffodils or fresh carnations on my coffee table really lifted my spirits, gave way to increased energy and a sense of creative renewal.
Following my intuition and connection to plant life has enabled me to find a new purpose following a turbulent period in my life and a sense of creative renewal which I’m really grateful about.
My purpose as a Photographer is to connect people through digital greeting cards through a minimalist style of visual communication, blending my existing photography skills with new knowledge about graphic design principles.
I’m a Minimalist, which is illustrated in my style of photography as it places emphasis on simplicity and does away with clutter, focusing on colour, negative space, line and form.
